RN Occupational Health Nurse
Full Time (Monday-Friday)

About the Role:
The RN Occupational Health Nurse plays a critical role in promoting and maintaining the health and safety of employees within the organization. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive occupational health services, including injury prevention, health assessments, and management of work-related illnesses. The nurse will collaborate closely with management and employees to develop and implement health programs that comply with regulatory standards and support a safe work environment. Additionally, the role involves conducting health education, administering immunizations, and managing case documentation to ensure timely and effective care. Ultimately, the Occupational Health Nurse contributes to reducing workplace hazards and enhancing overall employee well-being, which supports organizational productivity and compliance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program with a minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience.
- Current CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in occupational health nursing or related healthcare setting preferred.
- Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and workers’ compensation laws preferred.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR)- EPIC knowledge preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures that company employees’ health requirements are met.
- Coordinates, completes, and tracks new employee pre-employment physicals, ensuring the employee has all necessary vaccinations and screenings.
- Provides vaccinations for new employees as needed.
- Manages, coordinates, administers, and tracks annual employee vaccinations.
- Manages, coordinates, and tracks employee TB screenings and testing.
- Functions as the Respiratory Program Administrator, providing, tracking, and coordinating Fit Testing throughout the organization.
- Provides required infection prevention and control education to new employees or as requested.
- Reviews and logs all employee infectious disease exposures.
- Tracks blood-borne pathogen events to ensure employees have appropriate follow up.
- Workers’ Compensation Incident management and tracking.
- Encourages employees to take responsibility for their own health through health education, wellness activities, and campaigns.
- Assists with policy development, revision, and review as it applies to employee health.
Skills:
The required skills enable the nurse to effectively assess and manage employee health concerns, ensuring timely intervention and prevention of workplace illnesses and injuries. Strong communication skills are essential for educating employees and collaborating with management to foster a culture of safety. Organizational skills support accurate documentation and compliance with regulatory requirements. Preferred skills, such as certification in occupational health nursing and experience with EHR systems, enhance the nurse’s ability to deliver specialized care and efficiently manage health records. Together, these skills ensure the nurse can provide comprehensive occupational health services that promote employee well-being and organizational compliance.
