Mission Vision, a non-profit from Pittsburgh, PA recently brought its service and expertise to Keystone Health in Chambersburg. Staff members of Mission Vision were able to see 35 patients from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm who made appointments prior to the event.
Mission Vision is a non-profit which partners exclusively with other community service providers and delivers free eye exams, custom eyeglasses, and other essential supplies directly to homeless, uninsured, working poor, and low-fixed income people in Western Pennsylvania and abroad. Mission Vision is also dedicated to educating community and neighborhood outreach providers about the importance of maintaining eye health and the dangers of neglecting it, all as a measure to prevent unnecessary blindness.
Joanne Cochran, President and CEO of Keystone Health was pleased that Keystone could partner with Mission Vision. “Maintaining good eye health is often nearly unattainable among the poor and uninsured in Franklin County, and we were very happy to play a small part in offering this service to our community,” she said.
Dr. Facchinei, Optometrist at Allegany Optical in Shippensburg volunteered his services for the day.
