Get to know one of the newest providers at Keystone Pediatrics Chambersburg, Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner Mackenzie VanDuzer!
How did you decide to become a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP)?
Throughout nursing school, I always knew that I wanted to work with children. I worked on WVU Medicine’s inpatient pediatric/pediatric oncology unit for almost 4 years. Working with kids has been such a terrific experience. I chose to go back to school and obtain my CRNP because I truly want to see kids throughout each milestone of their lives. It has been very rewarding watching kids grow and develop.
Where did you go to college?
I originally grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA. I obtained my ASN from a local community college and later earned my BSN at California University of Pennsylvania. I went back to school for my CRNP at Carlow University in Pittsburgh.
Why did you choose to work at Keystone?
After graduating CRNP school, my husband and I relocated to Baltimore, MD. Relocating closer to family was our goal. I had been considering several different positions, but Keystone Health definitely stood out. Throughout the interview process, all of the staff was very welcoming and it truly felt like a home. Keystone has a lot to offer to the community. I am so happy that I get to work alongside these people.
What is your favorite part of your job?
I love watching the kids grow up and develop their personalities. It’s amazing to see their growth and accomplishments at every visit.
What are your hobbies?
My hometown is Greensburg, PA but I’ve lived near Baltimore, MD for the last 3 years. I grew up in a town where my family lives walking distance from each other, so family is a very important part of my life. In my free time, I enjoy reading, hiking, and traveling to spend time with family and friends. My husband and I love exploring new towns. We are new to Franklin County but excited to explore!
What’s an interesting fact about yourself?
I played in the Little League Softball World Series multiple times whenever I was younger, which was on ESPN.
What’s something you’d like patients to know about you?
I will always treat every single patient as if I was seeing my family member. I want to see my patients thrive and be successful.
Welcome to the Keystone family, Mackenzie!
