Get to know Keystone Pediatrics Waynesboro’s newest provider, Physician Assistant Jane Shughart, in today’s Meet The Provider article!
How did you decide to become a Physician Assistant?
In high school, I had an advanced biology teacher who saw a PA as his primary care provider. He introduced the profession to me and helped me make the career choice.
Where did you go to college?
Saint Francis University.
What is your favorite part of working in the pediatrics field?
Pediatric patients are fun and can make you laugh!
Why did you choose to work at Keystone?
The administrative staff are caring. When I interviewed for the job, I met with each senior manager individually – even the CEO. It is a family atmosphere here.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
We adopted my great niece and nephew each at 3 days of age. They are currently 3 and 4 years old, so I am focused on them. But in the past I enjoyed reading, gardening and traveling to small towns.
Where is your hometown?
Mercersburg, born and raised.
What’s an interesting fact about yourself or something people might be surprised to know about you?
I have two biological children, three stepchildren and two adopted children. The youngest are 3 and 4 and the older ones are 21 to 28 years old.
Is there anything else you’d like people to know about you?
I have practiced in Family Medicine since 1992. Until my recent hire with Keystone, I did inpatient and outpatient medicine seeing newborns to geriatrics.
