How did you decide to become an Occupational Therapist?
I decided to become an Occupational Therapist after having the opportunity to shadow and work alongside OTs during my studies as a Music Therapist in hospital settings. I loved the creative problem-solving Occupational Therapy is centered on, as well as the opportunity to continue to expand my scope in treating the whole person through a creative and individualized lens.
Where did you go to college?
I completed my Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio and my Master of Occupational Therapy at Messiah University in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
What is your favorite part of working in the pediatric OT field?
My favorite part of working in the pediatric OT field is the kids! I love getting to use play and creativity to build relationships with kids and their families to help them achieve their goals. Every child is unique in what works for them, motivates them, and what they’re working on and it’s a privilege to work together to help them accomplish their goals and reach their milestones.
Why did you choose to work at Keystone?
I feel very fortunate to be working at Keystone. The mission of Keystone Health strongly aligns with me professionally and personally, as I believe everyone is entitled to compassionate, quality healthcare.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
I enjoy playing and listening to music, spending time outside, baking, working in my raised bed garden, and spending time with my friends and family outside of work.
Where is your hometown, and if you are new to the area, what do you like about Franklin County so far?
I am originally from Flushing, Ohio, though I have been living in the greater Harrisburg area with my husband for the last four years. Franklin county reminds me a lot of my hometown, and I am constantly amazed by its beauty.
What’s an interesting fact about yourself or something people might be surprised to know about you?
My parents farmed beef cattle growing up, and my family has since also added chickens and goats over the years. I also play six different musical instruments.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
I am very grateful to be a part of the Keystone team and am looking forward to serving the greater Chambersburg area as a Pediatric OT!
