For Pam Hutchison, every day at the office is an opportunity to help others. As supervisor of Keystone Health’s Outreach and Enrollment services, Pam has worked to help establish the important community program by recruiting, training, and developing staff. She says working with people who need help finding health insurance options is the most rewarding part of her job. “When a dad comes to you not knowing where to start and you walk them through the process…it’s very rewarding in the end,” Pam said.
Pam began her career at Keystone Health as a receptionist at Keystone Family Medicine in 2004 and later in Keystone Health’s billing department. Pam, along with the Outreach and Enrollment staff, spends her days helping individuals and families find and apply for health insurance, medical assistance, CHIP, and other community charity programs. “We schedule appointments for clients to come and complete the application process. On any given day we can have as many as 50 walk-ins between any one of our four offices,” she said. “We also have the capability to go to the client and help them complete the application process.”
Pam said seeing the smile on a patients face when they’ve finally been able to see a doctor because they have health insurance, keeps her coming to work each day. “Keystone is here for the good of the community,” she said. “Not everyone is so blessed to have health insurance and a lot of times, families that we help do not even know where to turn for help. Keystone makes this happen for a lot of the families that we help.”
Pam has two grown children and 5 grandchildren. She lives in Upper Strasburg and is currently planning a wedding with her fiancée for the summer of 2015. When she’s not spending time with her grand kids, Pam loves reading and shopping.
