Joe Wilde, LPN, has been working at Keystone Health for 5 years, at Keystone Urgent Care (previously known as Keystone Walk-In Care), with a brief interim at Keystone Pediatrics.
Every day is different working at Keystone Urgent Care, Joe says. “When it comes to urgent care there’s not really a typical day. I usually get to work about an hour early, drink some coffee and begin to think about what needs done for that day. In the urgent care setting you never know what’s going to walk through the door, so you have to be ready for whatever the day may bring. That could mean an easy day or it could mean that you do not sit down for 12 hours”, he said.
It’s a team effort, working at Keystone Urgent Care, and Joe appreciates his co-workers, stating “I would not be able to do my job without the excellent team that we have at the urgent care. We keep each other accountable and help each other no matter what the situation might be. Each of us has strengths and weaknesses and we are always there when the other needs anything. If it were not for our team I would certainly not able to perform my duties as well.”
Joe is proud of the work that Keystone provides to the community. He says, “I think the thing that makes me most proud about working at Keystone is that it affords people who may not have an opportunity to achieve healthcare and wellness due to financial situations the ability to do just that. No matter what their background may be. I have had countless patients comment on how they would not be able to get healthcare if Keystone did not offer the services that they offer.”
Joe and his wife just moved to Shippensburg along with their 2 daughters and German Sheppard, Asia, and enjoyed many hours relaxing in their swimming pool this summer. He says that he enjoys that Franklin County has both the country setting and the availability to go just a couple hours to find a big city.
