May Employee Spotlight – Carolyn Coss joined the Keystone Health team in May 2013 when Keystone opened the new Keystone Audiology and Speech practice at 820 Fifth Ave. in Chambersburg. As an audiologist and speech language pathologist, Carolyn works to help people of all ages achieve better hearing as well as work on speech and language challenges.
“I enjoy helping my patients to hear and communicate better,” Carolyn said. “It is always rewarding when a child who hasn’t heard well begins to respond to sounds and starts to talk. It is equally exciting when adults who have been feeling socially isolated can hear again and participate more fully in life. Likewise, when children receiving speech therapy or auditory training express themselves more clearly and improve their communication abilities it is gratifying.”
Although some days it’s more dramatic than others, every day Carolyn says she knows she has helped each patient that she sees. “I leave knowing that I have answered questions, relieved a parent’s worry, helped someone hear better or stretched a child’s speech and language skills,” she said. Carolyn says she’s thankful to work for an organization that provides such a broad range of services to the Franklin County community.
Carolyn lives in the Chambersburg area with her husband, three daughters, a dog, cats, and chickens. You can find the homeschooling family outdoors in their garden and small orchard or showing their hens through the local 4-H program. Carolyn says she loves to live in Franklin County. “I attended college and graduate school in big cities and I was glad to come home to the Cumberland Valley where I can see the mountains, farms, streams, and trees every day,” she said.
