The Keystone Health Employee Spotlight for December shines on Dr. Ruby Gupta of Keystone Internal Medicine.
Ruby began working at Keystone in September 2014 as an Internist, and thought the company would be a good fit for her from the beginning.
“During my interview, I was very impressed by Joanne Cochran,” Ruby said. “She seemed to be genuinely interested in serving this community above everything else. She also seemed to be very kind and supportive to physicians so that they can have a good work and family life balance. It’s been a wonderful two years at Keystone.”
Ruby begins each day with a cup of coffee while reading a medical article. She then sees patients from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
“My work involves providing evidence-based and compassionate medical care to patients with chronic medical and mental health conditions,” she said. “As an Internist, I also offer preventative screenings and immunizations to all my patients.”
She values providing ethical and patient-directed care, and is thankful that Keystone does the same.
“We work as a multidisciplinary team to provide wholesome care with wonderful leadership, and an amazing work environment and group of coworkers,” she said. “We mainly serve patients who have limited resources. Very few institutions understand the burden of poverty and the medical and mental suffering that comes with it; real work needs to be done. Keystone has strived to provide the best resources and benefits to all the patients.
“I feel extremely humbled and thankful when patients trust me enough to take care of them. I am only contributing a miniscule to this wonderful cause. It keeps me grounded and close to reality. Every moment where my patient feels better is a proud moment for me.”
At the end of her work day, Ruby enjoys returning to her Hagerstown home to play with and read to her 18-month-old son.
“I strive each day to excel in everything I do and happily overcome my challenges so that I can set an example for my son,” Ruby said.
She also enjoys gardening, cooking, reading spiritual books, spending time in nature, and learning about different cultures. She also makes it a point to exercise for 30 minutes each evening, and strongly believes “health is the greatest gift, contentment the greatest wealth, faithfulness the best relationship.”
Thank you Ruby, for all that you do for Keystone and our patients!
