Dr. Kawish Garg, the newly appointed medical director of Keystone Behavioral Health, spends his days helping patients at the practice located on the corner of Norland and Fifth Ave. He says he’s especially proud to work for an organization that offers important care to the community. “Not turning any patient away—no matter what their paying capacity—providing equitable care to the community makes me feel very proud that I am part of the Keystone family,” he said. “Our mission and values keep us motivated to deliver quality, easy accessible care to our community.”
Helping people, making them smile, and feel better motivates Dr. Garg as a mental health physician. “I try to understand my patients from a bio-socio-psychological perspective—discussing their medical issues, life stories, happy, and sad moments. It makes me feel a part of their lives. Having their depth of understanding is very important to help them better to excel in their lives,” he said.
Dr. Garg, who started working at Keystone in 2013, says he and other providers at Keystone Behavioral Health are proud of the work they do to help people going through a challenging time. “When we see patients, we try to understand their emotional state, what they are going through in their lives and help them dealing with these strong emotions,” Dr. Garg said. “Seeing the same patient over years and doing much better tells us that we all go through different phases/moments of life, at times stress is so high that we are not able to deal with it by ourselves and need help, but that doesn’t last forever. It gives our patients hope and inspiration that things will be better again.”
Dr. Garg lives in Franklin County with his wife and son. He loves to stay active and healthy by getting outside regularly as well as traveling and spending time with family and friends.
